Currys
Tech Wallet: all-in-one care for your tech

The Challenge
Currys wanted an app to manage household technology and unlock opportunities for protection, insurance, repair and upgrades, while giving customers a simple way to add new, existing or offline products such as white goods.
Goals & Objectives
Create a single place to manage household technology
Simplify adding and organising devices across the home
Enable protection, repair, insurance and upgrade services
Ensure accessibility and ease of use for a wide age range
Research & Insights
Households own multiple devices across different brands and retailers.
Product information, warranties and service eligibility are often difficult to locate.
Customers struggle to track protection, insurance and repair options.
White goods and older devices are rarely captured digitally.
Approach & Strategy
I designed the app around a simple idea: give users one place to see all of their household technology. The home screen shows every device at a glance, including protection status and any health alerts, helping users quickly understand what is covered and what needs attention.
Adding devices was designed to be quick and low effort. Users can take a photo of a product using an AI camera or add items manually, making it easy to include everything from phones to large appliances.
Devices are grouped by room and category so users can organise their home in a way that feels familiar. Clear indicators highlight protected and unprotected items, while alerts draw attention to issues that need action.
Notifications surface important updates such as protection gaps or device issues. Users can also view the current value of their devices and trade-in potential, supporting better decisions over time.
This approach focuses on visibility, simplicity and preventative care, helping users stay on top of their technology and avoid unexpected problems.
Journey Mapping
Concept
A centralised app experience that brings household technology into one place, making it easy to manage devices, track protection and take action when needed.

Testing & Iteration
The concept is currently being validated through stakeholder reviews and early user feedback. Insights from these sessions are informing refinements to onboarding, device visibility and alert clarity as the experience continues to evolve.
